Aetheric is a New Zealand engineering practice built to protect people, assets, and critical infrastructure from lightning and electrical risk. That mission is inseparable from a wider responsibility: to work in a way that respects Aotearoa's environment and contributes to the country's low-carbon future. We are an early-stage, remote-first company, and we intend to build sound environmental practice into how we grow rather than bolt it on later. The commitments below are practical, honest, and grounded in what an expert engineering consultancy can genuinely stand behind.
As a distributed New Zealand team, we avoid much of the environmental cost that comes with permanent office space and daily commuting. Our people work from where they are based, and we organise around outcomes rather than presence. We travel only when the work genuinely requires it, and we favour remote collaboration wherever it serves the client as well as an on-site visit would. Where site attendance is necessary, we plan it efficiently to minimise unnecessary journeys.
Sound lightning protection and earthing engineering is inherently resource-efficient. Well-designed systems last longer, avoid over-specification, and reduce the waste, downtime, and asset damage that failures cause. By getting the engineering right the first time, we help clients avoid the material and carbon cost of premature replacement and repeated remediation.
Our work also supports New Zealand's clean energy transition directly. We help safeguard renewable generation and the network infrastructure that carries it, protecting the assets on which a low-carbon economy depends. Reliable protection of this infrastructure is part of building an energy system that is both resilient and sustainable.
We will not overstate what we do. Environmental responsibility, like the engineering we practise, is built on evidence, and we apply the same discipline to our own claims that we apply to our technical work.
