Technologies

Engineered protection acts at the strike. Warning technology gives your people and your processes the minutes before it.

Aetheric is building a technology practice alongside its established consulting work. Where our engineering protects the structure, warning technology protects the window of time before a strike arrives, the interval in which personnel can be moved to safety and hazardous operations can be paused or safely stopped.

We integrate advanced thunderstorm warning technology for operators of critical and high-value infrastructure across New Zealand, APAC, MENA and West Africa. Every system we bring to a site is selected, configured and supported against the same international standards framework that underpins our consulting engagements, so warning capability integrates directly into an operator's existing risk management and compliance obligations rather than sitting alongside them as a disconnected device.

Why Warning Belongs Inside a Protection Strategy

A lightning protection system does its work in the instant of a strike. It intercepts, conducts and disperses the energy so that the structure and its systems survive the event. What it cannot do is create time. It cannot move a maintenance crew off an exposed roof, hold a fuelling operation, or bring a crane to a safe configuration before the first discharge.

That is the function of a thunderstorm warning system. By detecting the earliest measurable signs of a developing storm, a warning system converts an approaching hazard into actionable lead time, enough for an operations team to carry out a structured, pre-planned response. Protection hardware and warning technology are not alternatives. They address different parts of the same risk, and the standards recognise them as complementary measures.

Thunderstorm Warning Systems

Real-time electrostatic field monitoring and alerting that gives operations teams advance warning of developing thunderstorm activity, before the first strike. Aetheric engineers the system into the site: sensor siting, alarm thresholds, monitoring configuration, and integration with the operator's safety procedures and response plans.

A Standards-Led Approach

Aetheric's technology practice is guided by the same international standards framework that governs our consulting work. Two standards define how warning technology is recognised and how it must perform:

Every system Aetheric integrates is selected, configured and supported against these and related standards, so that operators can fold thunderstorm warning directly into their existing lightning risk assessments, safety procedures and compliance frameworks.

Where This Fits in the Protection Lifecycle

Warning technology is the real-time monitoring layer of a complete lightning protection strategy. It works alongside, not instead of, the engineering that surrounds it.
