Aetheric's technology practice is guided by the same international standards framework that governs our consulting work. Two standards define how warning technology is recognised and how it must perform:
- IEC 62305-2:2024 recognises the thunderstorm warning system (TWS) as a protection measure within the risk assessment framework, quantifying the reduction in risk to persons when warnings and preventive actions are implemented. Warning is not an accessory to the risk model; it is part of it.
- IEC 62793 defines the performance requirements, classification and testing criteria for thunderstorm warning systems, establishing the benchmarks against which a system's detection, lead time and alarm performance are measured.
